Rudi Van Dantzig
My name is Rudi van Dantzig, for twenty years Artistic Director of the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam. This letter is to recommend a dancer - Sabrina Delafield - whom I met and worked with for six weeks in the National Ballet School of Canada, Toronto.
Miss Delafield danced in two pieces of mine that I worked on in Toronto - 'Four Last Songs' and 'Pas de Six' from Swan Lake, in my version. In both ballets she danced demanding roles, both technically and dramatically.
Sabrina worked hard and made an incredible progress over the six weeks we worked together. Had I some doubts in the beginning of our cooperation, in the end she blew me off my feet not only by the way she mastered the technical difficulties but also performed the last pas de deux of 'Four Last Songs' with such intensity and musicality that I was speechless.
In the way she worked - and works - Miss Delafield has shown me that she doesn't rest till the choreography that is entrusted to her comes as close as possible to the expectations of the choreographer, the balletmaster or the teacher; her commitment sure is impressive, and endearing!
I wish Sabrina well in her search for an inspiring and demanding company, I know she will be a very good company member and a true artist, without false illusions. She therefore deserves to find a good company to work in and I'm almost sure she'll find it, committed as she is. I hope she will find what she is dreaming of, and wish her all the best!
